Job summary

The Capitol Region Education Council (CREC) seeks a Behavior Technician to support students with behavioral and academic needs within our school-based teams in Hartford, CT. You will implement behavioral strategies, document progress, and collaborate with teachers and specialists to promote a positive learning environment.

This role emphasizes de-escalation techniques, data collection, and direct student assistance in small groups or one-on-one settings, aiding teachers with instructional tasks

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Assist students in managing behavior by implementing behavioral intervention plans under certified staff guidance.
• Observe and document student behaviors, providing feedback and data to intervention team.
• Use de-escalation techniques and help create a calm, focused classroom environment.
• Work one-on-one or in small groups with students needing behavioral guidance.
• Provide support in academic subjects as directed by teachers or intervention team.
• Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and other staff to ensure a consistent approach.
• Monitor and document students' progress on academic tasks, providing feedback to the teacher.
• Maintain accurate records of behavioral and academic progress, assisting with reporting to administration.
• Seek to expand knowledge of effective intervention strategies and educational support systems.
• Complete and maintain annual crisis management training requirements.
• Comply with all company policies and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.
