Job summary

CAPITOL REGION EDUCATION COUNCIL (CREC) is seeking a full-time Behavior Technician at the Polaris Center in East Hartford to support K-12 students with behavioral and academic needs. The role focuses on implementing behavioral plans, data collection, and supervision across the school day.

Responsibilities include assisting with academics, field trips, and crisis interventions under supervision, while collaborating with teachers and staff in a high-energy educational environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must complete and maintain Safety Care Training annually.
• Pre-employment background checks are required.

Responsibilities

• Assist students in managing behavior using behavioral intervention plans under the guidance of certified staff.
• Observe and document student behaviors and provide feedback to the intervention team.
• Accompany and supervise students on field trips, ensuring safety and engagement while reinforcing behavior plans.
• Use de-escalation techniques and help create a calm classroom environment.
• Provide academic support in math, reading, and writing as directed by the teacher.
