Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville, VA, is seeking dedicated Monitor Technicians to monitor and interpret EKG tracings on telemetry patients. The role rotates across hospital areas with cardiac monitoring patients, excluding LDRP and Emergency Departments.

The position supports the Telemetry/Stroke team, handling approximately 20–36 patients per shift and requiring completion of a monitor technician surveillance program, with optional prior experience in an acute care setting.

Qualifications

• High School Graduation or Equivalent required.
• Completion of a monitor technician surveillance program/course required; 1 year experience in monitor technician surveillance within the last 5 years will be accepted in substitute of the program/course.

Responsibilities

• Observe, recognize, interpret, evaluate and document EKG tracings on telemetry-monitored patients.
• Promptly notify appropriate personnel of dysrhythmias.
• Operate and utilize monitoring system to full capacity and ensure telemetry equipment is functioning safely.

Promptly notifies appropriate personnel of dysrhythmias. Operates and utilizes monitoring system to full capacity. Ensures proper and safe functioning of the telemetry equipment.This position will rotate between all areas of the hospital with cardiac monitoring patients with the exception of the LDRP and Emergency Departments.The Telemetry/Stroke team at Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital provides care for patients with cardiac conditions including heart failure, cardiac rhythm disturbances, newly implanted permanent pacemakers and defibrillators, post- coronary interventions, post-ablation, myocardial infarctions.
