An established industry player is seeking a dedicated Monitor Technician to provide continuous observation of patients' EKG patterns. **Responsibilities**
Provides continuous observation of monitored EKG patterns of patients on telemetry and reports significant information to appropriate nursing personnel. Functions within a designated hospital area to assist nursing personnel in the close observation and monitoring of patients.
1. Continuous observation of monitored EKG patterns and pulse oximetry as ordered. Sets up, calibrates, and maintains settings and alarms on telemetry module. Obtains rhythm strip at the beginning of shift, on admission, and whenever changes occur. Labels strip with patient identification, time, lead monitored, PR interval, ST interval, QRS interval.
2. Troubleshoots telemetry equipment, ensures monitors are functioning properly, ensures telemetry supplies are readily available. Accounts for all telemetry transmitters and verifies daily telemetry charges.
3. Identifies changes in rate, rhythm, or pattern, and notifies RN of these changes. Responds appropriately to emergency situations, runs a continuous EKG strip, and notifies appropriate staff.
4. Assists in answering telephone calls. Ensures pull-down desks are in upright position after posting EKG strips on patient charts. Keeps work area neat and clean, with no food or drink in the work station. Ensures transmitters are properly cleaned between patients, and electrical cords are off the floor.
5. Demonstrates a commitment to personal growth and development by completing annual mandatory in-services and Code Validation within the specified time frame. Attends unit-based in-services and monthly departmental meetings. Demonstrates flexibility in responding to unit or service needs, including floating to other areas.
**Qualifications**
**_Required Education and Experience_**
*High school Diploma/GED
*One (1) year of experience as a monitor tech, EMT, or paramedic
**_Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Training_**
*Demonstrate knowledge in EKG interpretation by passing the Basic Dysrhythmia Rhythm Interpretation Exam and successfully completing the Basic Dysrhythmia Interpretation Course (if applicable)

**Pay Range**
$14.82 - $20.38
