Job Description

Performs continuous observation of cardiac monitors, including dysrhythmias, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Notifies appropriate licensed personnel as necessary.

Job Responsibilities

1. Identifies dysrhythmias and rhythm changes utilizing systematic EKG analysis and notifies assigned Registered Nurse of any changes or problems.
2. Verifies all alarm parameters are set and activated at the beginning of the shift and responds to monitor alarms as needed.
3. Assists the RN in admitting patients, including setting alarms, AICD, or pacemakers.
4. Prints monitor strips for each patient for interpretation by a Registered Nurse and files them in the patient's medical record. Replaces paper as needed.
5. Performs stat EKGs when required.
6. Participates in the orientation of new monitor technicians as necessary.
7. Reports equipment safety hazards or repairs to supervision.
8. Follows Infection Control protocols.
9. Performs related duties as required.

Job Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
• Successful completion of an EKG course or equivalent, required.
• Previous experience, preferred.
