A leading healthcare provider in Texas is seeking a Monitor Tech to monitor patients and report vital signs. The role involves working under the supervision of an RN, ensuring patient safety, and maintaining accurate records. Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma and experience in a hospital setting. Responsibilities include assisting with patient calls, managing telemetry reports, and ensuring patient rights are upheld. This position offers a chance to work in a dynamic healthcare environment focused on patient care.
Responsible for monitoring patients, assessing and reporting patient monitoring and/or life-threatening events to medical/nursing staff. Also responsible for documenting and posting rhythm strips into patient records. Works under the direction of an RN, utilizing a team approach, and under the supervision and administration of the Charge Nurse. The Monitor Tech will perform the following duties on the nursing unit:
Education:
High school graduate preferred, but equivalent education may suffice.
Must attend an arrhythmia course and pass with at least 80%.
Must take telemetry competency annually and pass with at least 80%.
Experience:
Previous hospital experience with some knowledge of medical terms is desirable.
Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification:
CPR required only if the individual also provides direct patient care (e.g., CNA/LPN cross-trained as Monitor Tech/Unit Secretary or vice versa).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must be able to identify life-threatening arrhythmias (e.g., VTach, ventricular defibrillation).
Must have sufficient knowledge of the English language.
Must have sufficient knowledge to transcribe physician’s orders, make requisitions, reports, maintain simple records, and perform related clerical tasks.
Pertinent in-services as requested by Nurse Manager.
Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
