Job summary

Corning is seeking a molded plastics technician in Utah to perform mold changeovers and minor machine repairs. The role involves reading prints, setting up molding machines, and ensuring safety and documentation practices are followed. Prior mechanical experience and basic tool use are preferred.

Starting pay ranges between $26.50 and $29.88 per hour, with opportunities for training and career growth within a leading materials science company.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 3-6 months experience in mechanical area; experience with basic tools preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs mold changeovers and completes minor molding machine, mold, and support equipment repair.
• Reads prints to make minor repairs on molding machines and associated sub-systems
• Performs all mold change overs, and injection machine process changes
• Provides basic technical support for troubleshooting equipment problems
• Responsible for the waste removal for hazardous materials and tools
• Verifies the correct set-up of molding machines and auxiliary equipment before processing
• Works with hand tools, lockout/tagout, chemicals, etc., demonstrating proper safety precautions
• Operates molding machines utilizing activities such as set-up and processing when required
• Completes production records/forms recording relevant data onto forms or via electronic data entry in Hyware or other systems
• Ensures accuracy and good documentation practices per company standards
• Participates in Kaizen and Lean activities as necessary to drive continuous improvement initiatives; complies with safety standards including Lock-Out/Tag-Out and Zero-Energy
• Handles hazardous waste according to site, state, and federal guidelines
• Trains/mentors new technicians in department
• Performs other duties as required to meet the needs of the department and company
