Job summary

University of Michigan Health-West is seeking a Mohs Technologist in Dermatology for day shifts (40 hrs/wk). The role involves assisting the Mohs surgeon and accurately preparing tissue specimens for microscopic review.

Responsibilities include histology processing, slide preparation, labeling, and maintaining CLIA/OSHA standards while coordinating with dermatopathologists and surgeons. A strong emphasis on accuracy and teamwork in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• ASCP Histotechnologist certification is required.
• BLS certification from AHA/Red Cross is required.
• High school degree or GED is required.
• AS degree in an Applied Science is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists the physician during Mohs surgery and prepares histologic specimens.
• Prepares microscope slides for viewing by the Mohs surgeon.
• Maintains accurate patient identification on containers, slides and paperwork.
• Collaborates with dermatopathologists, surgeons and other professionals to support Mohs surgeries.
• Maintains Mohs laboratory in accordance with CLIA and OSHA standards.
• Operates cryostat and stain line and ensures preventive maintenance.
