Job summary

DOCS Dermatology Group in Austin, TX seeks a Mohs Medical Assistant to support our Mohs surgeon, including clinical and surgical procedures. The role offers training for Mohs laboratory procedures and backup Mohs technician coverage as needed. One year of medical setting experience is required.

You will assist with patient exams, scribing, sterile technique, EHR documentation, venipuncture, and post-procedure wound care. Evening shifts may be required in a busy dermatology practice.

Qualifications

• One (1)+ year experience in a medical setting.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Knowledge of sterile technique, anatomy, and medications.
• Detail oriented, professional attitude, reliable.
• Ability to follow or provide verbal & written instructions with good grammar and spelling.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a patient advocate during exams, surgery and treatment.
• Review medical history and confirm purpose of visit.
• Escort patient to exam or surgical room.
• Obtain surgical informed consent prior to procedure.
• Take and document patient vital signs and medical history in the EHR.
• Prepare sterile surgical trays and MOHS procedure setup.
• Assist physician during Mohs surgery as directed.
• Educate patients on post wound care and exercises as needed.
• Authorize prescriptions under physician direction and document in the EHR.
• Scribe surgical and office visits and maintain sterile technique.
