Job summary

Providence Swedish seeks a Mohs Histology Technician to ensure regulatory compliance, perform quality control on instruments and stains, and maintain detailed records. You will prepare tissues, cut frozen sections, and manage Mohs slides from preparation to reporting, under supervision of a Mohs surgeon.

Preferred candidates have Histotech training or HT/HTL certification and at least 1 year of Mohs lab experience.

Qualifications

• Preferred: Training in Mohs horizontal and vertical frozen section processing.
• Preferred: 1 year Mohs Technician experience cutting frozen sections under supervision.

Responsibilities

• Ensures compliance with laboratory licensing, accreditation, and regulatory standards; maintains records and stays current with regulations.
• Performs daily quality control, instrument and stain QC, and routine preventive maintenance; operates cryostat per state standards.
• Assists with quality assurance activities, including survey documentation, procedure development, and maintaining records of cases and activities.
• Identifies and corrects problems affecting tissue processing, slide preparation, or reporting; documents corrective actions.
• Prepares and maintains solutions and stains; maps tissue specimens; cuts frozen sections; maintains slide quality control.
• Labels, files, stores, and tracks slides; submits slides for diagnostic confirmation; maintains slide locations.
