Qualifications

• Mohs tissue processing experience preferred.
• 1 year Mohs technician experience.
• Associate degree in lab science or histotech training preferred.
• ASCP BOC HT/HTL certification within 1 year of hire preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensures compliance with licensing, accreditation, and regulatory standards; maintains required records and stays current with regulations and advances relevant to the laboratory and Mohs histology.
• Performs daily quality control, instrument and stain QC, and preventive maintenance; operates cryostat and related equipment per state standards.
• Assists with Quality Assurance activities including documentation, procedure development, and accuracy of case logs and reports.
• Follows policies when testing systems fall outside acceptable performance, documents corrective actions and notifies Mohs surgeon/manager as needed.
• Prepares and maintains solutions and stains; maps tissue specimens; cuts frozen sections; maintains slides and records; coordinates slide handling with outside labs.
• Performs data entry for surgical information and generates notes using Logician and photography software.
• Maintains department files, logs and inventory; ensures timely data entry and record accuracy.
• Monitors supplies, orders, receives and verifies shipments, and organizes equipment.
• Sets up sterile trays, autoclaves, assists with wound checks and postoperative follow-ups, uploads surgical photos into charts.
• Interacts with patients with supportive care and provides emergency assistance as required.
