Job summary

Desert Regional Medical Center Hospital is seeking a Mobility Technician to support patient transfers, repositioning, and ambulation in a hospital setting.

The ideal candidate has BLS certification and relevant patient-care experience. You will educate staff on mobility equipment, participate in early mobility programs, and help prevent falls while documenting activities in the EMR. This is a part-time role with rotating shifts and a focus on compassionate patient care.

Qualifications

• Current BLS certification required (or obtained within 30 days of hire).
• Experience in patient care, rehabilitation, or therapy support preferred.
• Solid understanding of body mechanics and safe transfer techniques.

Responsibilities

• Serve as mobility and movement specialist, supporting nursing and therapy teams in safely mobilizing patients—transfers, lifts, ambulation, and repositioning.
• Educate and coach staff on proper use of mobility aids, lift equipment, and safe movement techniques.
• Promote early and progressive mobility, aligning goals with individualized care plans.
• Routinely identify patients eligible for activity progression and ensure timely interventions.
• Support fall prevention strategies and monitor for skin breakdown or mobility-related issues.
• Coach patients during mobility activities to encourage independence and reinforce therapy techniques.
• Maintain and ensure safe operation of lift equipment and devices.
• Contribute to early mobility programs and monitor performance against benchmarks.
• Document mobility activity and patient response in the EMR; coordinate with therapy and nursing teams.
• Participate in quality improvement and data collection focused on outcomes and safety.
• Keep mobility equipment inventory organized and functional.
