Job summary

Chesapeake Regional Medical Center is seeking a Mobility Technician to support the Nursing Unit by moving patients out of bed for meals and daily ambulation, using safe patient handling equipment to ensure safety. The role requires competency with adult and geriatric patients and collaboration with therapies and nursing staff.

The Mobility Technician must operate equipment such as wheelchairs, beds, lifts, and assist with transfers and mobilization while maintaining safety and documenting care.

Qualifications

• Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
• Reading comprehension, writing ability, and verbal communication skills.
• Must be 18 years of age to work in a direct care setting.
• Minimum education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience as Rehabilitation Technician, Care Partner or CNA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Mobilize patients out of bed for meals and ambulation using safe patient handling equipment.
• Operate wheelchair, bedside chair, stretcher, geriatric chair, hospital beds, Hoyer lift and other equipment.
• Assess portable equipment and patient status to promote safety.
• Assist nursing with mobilization and ambulation on the unit.
• Maintain safety of patients, staff and families at all times.
• Relay pertinent information to nursing staff regarding patient activity and pain/medication needs.
