Job summary

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED.
• Current BLS for Healthcare Provider certification.
• CNA preferred; healthcare-focused student or equivalent experience.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English.
• Ability to perform basic computer skills.
• Ability to identify and report unsafe situations to the Staff Nurse.
• Care for patients across the geriatric, adult, and adolescent life spans.

Responsibilities

• Provides mobility interventions including safe bed mobility, transfers to and from bed and chair/commode, and ambulation with or without an assistive device.
• Assists with activities of daily living (ADLs) focusing on mobility independence (ambulation, positioning, dressing, toileting).
• Ensures accurate fitting of assistive devices for mobility.
• Progresses patient mobility toward the Johns Hopkins Highest Level of Mobility (JH-HLM) Goal of the Day.
• Communicates all pertinent observations to the responsible RN.
• Reports patient complaints and observations (vital signs, fever, SOB, chest pain, bleeding, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea).
• Maintains a safe patient environment and infection control standards.
• Performs basic patient care skills under RN supervision.
• Assists with nursing process steps including data collection and following the care plan.
• Provides patient instruction on safe mobility and gait sequencing.
