Job summary

South Shore Health is seeking a part-time Home Draw Phlebotomy Specialist to collect specimens and travel to offsite labs and patient homes in Rockland, MA. You will perform venipuncture, fingerstick, newborn heelsticks, and manage specimen labeling with accuracy.

You will also train staff and interns, handle STAT calls, and perform nasopharyngeal swabs, COVID/flu/strep collections, EKGs, Holter monitoring, and ambulatory BP monitoring as part of the lab services team.

Qualifications

• Phlebotomy techniques and newborn screening familiarity.
• Trains interns and maintains ongoing competency.
• Labels specimen tubes with patient identifiers and orders.
• Prioritizes STAT draws and coordinates transport.
• Nasopharyngeal swab collection with proper media selection.
• Performs COVID/flu/strep collections per protocol.
• Performs and trains in EKG procedures with proper placement.

Responsibilities

• Perform phlebotomy (venipuncture, fingerstick, heelstick) per procedures.
• Identify patients and label specimens accurately with two identifiers.
• Prioritize STAT draws and arrange appropriate transport.
• Collect nasopharyngeal swabs, newborn and other samples as required.
• Support EKG collection and monitor patient safety during testing.
• Assist with holter and ambulatory BP monitoring and data uploads.
