Job summary

Kinross Gold Corporation is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic in the United States to ensure safe operation and prevent component failures. The role emphasizes troubleshooting, repair of large mining equipment, and adherence to Kinross values.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to read schematics and service manuals.
  • Strong troubleshooting and failure analysis skills.
  • Must be willing to work OT on short notice.
  • Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all equipment is safe to operate and free from risk of failure.
  • Troubleshoot and repair large mining equipment both in shop and on site.
  • Read and understand schematics, service manuals and other service information.
  • Meet or exceed performance expectations set by management.
  • Discretion and judgment in job performance.
  • Maintain punctuality and regular attendance.
  • Return well documented and accurate work orders and reports.
  • Help develop other department personnel to perform duties.
  • Perform other related functions as assigned by supervisor.
  • Works under ALPMShop Supervisor.

Job description

Under the direction of the Mobile Maintenance Supervisor, the incumbent will be responsible for ensuring that each piece of equipment is safe to operate and is in no danger of component failure while continuously aligning daily functions to reflect Kinross’ values .

Job Responsibilities
  • 1. Compliance with all company policies and procedures including, but not limited to safety, environmental, confidentiality and code of conduct.
  • 2. Works without risk or harm to self and others.
  • 3. Must be able to recognize potential problems.
  • 4. Accurately troubleshoot and repair large mining equipment both in and out of the shop.
  • 5. Read and understand schematics, service manuals and other forms of equipment service information.
  • 6. Meets or exceeds established performance expectations set by management.
  • 7. Consistently exercises discretion and judgment in job performance.
  • 8. Punctuality and regular attendance required.
  • 9. Returns well documented and accurately completed work orders and service reports.
  • 10. Helps develop other department personnel to perform duties listed above.
  • 11. Performs other related functions as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications & Skill Requirements
  • 1. Must have sufficient mechanical knowledge.
  • 2. 4-5 years of heavy equipment repair experience preferred.
  • 3. Strong troubleshooting and failure analysis skills.
  • 4. Must be willing to work overtime on short notice.
  • 5. Diesel technician diploma is preferred.
  • 6. Ability to operate various equipment including forklifts, skid steers, telehandlers and service trucks.
  • 7. Possesses good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • 8. General understanding of mining operations, as well as limited understanding of milling and maintenance operations.
  • 9. Working knowledge and skill with P.C. utilizing word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software.
  • 10. Strong verbal, written, analytical and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.
  • 11. Ability to work independently and also as a member of the management team.
  • 12. Demonstrates strong administrative, organizational and technical writing skills.
  • 13. Must be 18 years old and presently authorized to work in the United States on a full time basis.
  • 14. Requires valid driver’s license.

  • Works under the direct supervision of the ALPMShop Supervisor
