The Millwrightis responsiblefor maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairingfixed plant equipment—including SAG/Ball mills, conveyors, compressors, hydraulic systems, pressure filters, pumps, and pipingsystems. Thisrole ensuresreliable milloperations byconducting preventativemaintenance,responding toequipment breakdowns, and supportingsafety, production, and environmentalgoals throughtechnical expertiseand effectivecollaborationwith the ProcessingMaintenance Team.
Essential Functions
- Conduct diagnostics, perform repairs, scheduled PMs (preventivemaintenance),and remedialwork on milland stationaryprocessing equipmentto high complianceand quality standards.
- Troubleshoot, modify, fabricate, and repair equipmentper supervisordirection; provideinput and technicalguidance to themaintenance team.
- Support allaspects of thepreventive maintenanceprogram, includingfluid checks, lubrication, sampling, componentinspections,and routine servicing.
- Maintain accuraterecords: generateand completework orders,select and documentuse of correctparts from warehouse, organize necessarypermits (e.g., confine space, lockout/tagout, hot work).
- Liaise closelywith Mill Supervisors and key stakeholdersto prioritizebreakdowns andmeet productiongoals.
- Ensureproper historyand records arekept in the Computerized MaintenanceManagement System(CMMS).
- Reviewand help developwork proceduresand JHAs, ensuringrisks are identifiedand mitigated; comply withall safety standards(MSHA, OSHA,and site-specific).
- Maintain high housekeeping standards in all work areas and pro-actively identify safety and process improvements
- Perform other duties as directed in support of processing maintenance and operations objectives.
Qualifications and Skills
- Completion of a recognized Millwright or Industrial Mechanic apprenticeship or similar related trade certification required.
- 3+ years’ experience maintaining, repairing, and installing fixed plant equipment in a mining or heavy industrial environment.
- Strong mechanical, troubleshooting, and fabrication skills with proficiency in welding, alignment, rigging, and hydraulics.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, manuals, and equipment schematics accurately.
- Strong focus on safety, familiarity with workplace safety standards, and commitment to lockout/tagout and other safety protocols.
- Computer literacy for maintenance management (CMMS) and communication tasks.
- Ability to work efficiently alone or as part of a multidisciplinary maintenance team.
- Flexibility for shift work, overtime, and planned/unplanned shutdowns as required by mine operations.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to work in remote mining locations.
