Job summary

Kinross Gold Corporation is seeking a Heavy Equipment Mechanic to maintain and repair a fleet of mining equipment on site, ensuring safety and peak performance. The role requires reading hydraulic and electrical schematics, welding, and fabricating on heavy equipment while complying with Kinross safety standards.

The position follows a rotating 5/4 schedule with flexibility for overtime as needed, supporting continuous operation of mining assets and equipment uptime.

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical aptitude with demonstrated ability in maintaining heavy mining equipment.
• Experience with heavy machinery maintenance and repairs is preferred.
• Willingness to work a rotating 5/4 shift schedule and overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to MSHA and Bald Mountain safety policies and procedures.
• Perform mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on mobile mining equipment including haul trucks, graders, dozers, water trucks, shovels, and drills.
• Conduct structural welding and fabrication on heavy equipment in line with OEM or AWS procedures.
• Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance to minimize downtime and optimize equipment availability.
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic issues.
• Use welding/cutting equipment to fabricate or repair components.

Job description

The Heavy Equipment Mechanic is responsible for maintaining and repairing a fleet of mining equipment, ensuring optimal efficiency and safety of all machinery. This role demands advanced expertise in various mechanical systems, including braking, steering, and suspension, as well as proficiency in electronic engine controls and hydraulic systems. The ability to read and interpret hydraulic and electrical schematics is crucial for effective troubleshooting and maintenance tasks. Proficiency with Cat SIS, Cat ET, and Cummins InSite are helpful.

While this role ideally suits an experienced mechanic, we welcome applicants with strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to further develop skill sets.

The position requires a strong understanding of mechanical systems and safety practices while ensuring minimal downtime for equipment and compliance with Kinross' safety and operational standards.
Work Schedule

This position follows a rotating 5/4 schedule, alternating between day and night shifts. Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed is required.
