Job summary

Kinross is seeking a Mobile Maintenance Technician to ensure equipment safety and reliability at the Round Mountain mine in Nevada. The role reports to the Mobile Maintenance Supervisor and focuses on keeping heavy mining equipment ready for operation while aligning daily activities with Kinross values.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting, repairing large equipment, reading manuals, maintaining documentation, and supporting the shop and maintenance team.

Qualifications

• Must have sufficient mechanical knowledge.
• 4-5 years of heavy equipment repair experience preferred.
• Strong troubleshooting and failure analysis skills.
• Must be willing to work overtime on short notice.
• Diesel technician diploma is preferred.
• Ability to operate forklifts, skid steers, telehandlers and service trucks.
• Possesses good communication and interpersonal skills.

Round Mountain is an open-pit mine located in Nevada, one of the best mining jurisdictions in the world. The mine uses conventional open-pit mining methods and processes ore by mill and heap leach. Kinross began operating the mine in 2003, and it has since become a continuous improvement leader in the Company’s portfolio. Round Mountain poured its 15 millionth ounce in 2018. Round Mountain and the nearby Bald Mountain mine make up Kinross’ Nevada operations.

The Round Mountain mine is an important contributor to the Nye County economy and, working with local stakeholders, has helped achieve significant improvements in healthcare and education in the area.

Job Description

Under the direction of the Mobile Maintenance Supervisor, the incumbent will be responsible for ensuring that each piece of equipment is safe to operate and is in no danger of component failure while continuously aligning daily functions to reflect Kinross’ values.

8. General understanding of mining operations, as well as limited understanding of milling and maintenance operations.
9. Working knowledge and skill with P.C. utilizing word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software.
10. Strong verbal, written, analytical and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.
11. Ability to work independently and also as a member of the management team.
12. Demonstrates strong administrative, organizational and technical writing skills.
13. Must be 18 years old and presently authorized to work in the United States on a full time basis.
14. Requires valid driver’s license.

Reporting Relationships

• Works under the direct supervision of the ALPM Shop Supervisor
