Job summary

Jobtailor in Memphis, TN seeks an experienced diesel mechanic to diagnose, inspect, and repair Class 6-8 tractors and trailers. You will perform preventive maintenance, DOT inspections, and service tires, hubs, and axles while handling DOT documentation and reporting findings.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of repair experience, valid driver's license, ASE/EPA certifications a plus, and comfortable using computers for billing and work orders. You bring your own tools and can lift 50+ pounds.

Qualifications

3+ years of experience repairing Commercial Tractor and Trailers.
Experienced in performing annual federal inspections and brake inspections.
Valid Driver’s License with acceptable driving record & no suspensions.
Ability to lift 50+ pounds.
Comfortable working with Computers for billing and work orders.
Follows verbal and written work orders to stay on track with daily repairs.
Confident explaining a diagnosis over the phone and helping the customer decide next steps on repairs.
Self-motivated with excellent organization and planning skills.
Experience with stick welding.
Your own tools.
Certifications are a plus | EPA 608/609/Universal & ASE

Responsibilities

Job description

Diagnose, inspect, and repair Class 6-8 tractors and trailers, including brakes, electrical, hydraulic, A/C, engine, exhaust, systems, components and after-treatment systems
Perform preventive maintenance and DOT inspections
Service and replace tires, hubs, axles, and lift-gates
Write work orders and open/close repair orders on a company device for mobile road calls and in-yard work
Inspect tractors and trailers to meet the U.S. Department of Transportation's road safety requirements
