Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a skilled technician to diagnose, inspect, and repair Class 6-8 tractors and trailers. You will perform preventive maintenance, DOT inspections, tire and axle service, and document work orders for mobile road calls and in-yard repairs.

The role requires 3+ years of repair experience, ASE and EPA certifications are a plus, and you must be comfortable using computers for billing and work orders. A clean driving record and the ability to lift 50+ pounds are essential.

Qualifications

3+ years of experience repairing Class 6-8 tractors and trailers.
Experience with annual federal inspections and brake inspections.
Must have valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
Ability to lift 50+ pounds.
Comfortable using computers for billing and work orders.
Follows written/verbal work orders to stay on track with daily repairs.
Ability to communicate diagnosis and next steps to customers over the phone.
Self-motivated with strong organization and planning.
Experience with stick welding.
Own your own tools.
Certifications such as EPA 608/609/Universal and ASE are a plus.

Responsibilities

Diagnose, inspect, and repair Class 6-8 tractors and trailers, including brakes, electrical, hydraulic, A/C, engine, exhaust, systems, components and after-treatment systems.
Perform preventive maintenance and DOT inspections.
Service and replace tires, hubs, axles, and lift-gates.
Write work orders and open/close repair orders on a company device for mobile road calls and in-yard work.
Inspect tractors and trailers to meet the U.S. Department of Transportation's road safety requirements.
Manage service truck inventory and source parts from local vendors.
Complete inspection reports and DOT documentation accurately and on time.
Deliver strong customer service and report findings to management.

Job description

Requirements

3+ years of experience repairing Commercial Tractor and Trailers
Experienced in performing annual federal inspections and brake inspections
Valid Driver’s License with acceptable driving record & no suspensions
Ability to lift 50+ pounds
Comfortable working with Computers for billing and work orders
Follows verbal and written work orders to stay on track with daily repairs
Confident explaining a diagnosis over the phone and helping the customer decide next steps on repairs
Self-motivated with excellent organization and planning skills
Experience with stick welding
Your own tools
Certifications are a plus | EPA 608/609/Universal & ASE
