Job summary

Jobtailor in Lenexa, KS is seeking an experienced diesel/mechanic to diagnose, inspect, and repair Class 6-8 tractors and trailers. You will perform preventive maintenance, DOT inspections, and service components like tires, hubs, and lift-gates while keeping accurate work orders and DOT documentation.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years of tractor/trailer repair experience, a valid driver's license, and ASE/EPA certifications.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience repairing Commercial Tractor and Trailers
  • Experienced in performing annual federal inspections and brake inspections
  • Valid Driver’s License with acceptable driving record & no suspensions
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds
  • Comfortable working with Computers for billing and work orders
  • Follows verbal and written work orders to stay on track with daily repairs
  • Confident explaining a diagnosis over the phone and helping the customer decide next steps on repairs
  • Self-motivated with excellent organization and planning skills
  • Experience with stick welding
  • Your own tools
  • Certifications are a plus | EPA 608/609/Universal & ASE

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, inspect, and repair Class 6-8 tractors and trailers, including brakes, electrical, hydraulic, A/C, engine, exhaust, systems and after-treatment
  • Perform preventive maintenance and DOT inspections
  • Service and replace parts such as tires, hubs, axles, and lift-gates
  • Write work orders and open/close repair orders on a company device for mobile road calls and in-yard work
  • Inspect tractors and trailers to meet the U.S. Department of Transportation's road safety requirements
  • Manage service truck inventory and source parts from local vendors
  • Complete inspection reports and DOT documentation accurately and on time
  • Deliver strong customer service and report findings to management
