Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced Trailer Technician in New York to diagnose, repair, and maintain Class 8 trailers for DOT compliance and safety. You will perform periodic inspections, repair structural components, and manage work orders on mobile devices while delivering strong customer service.

The role requires 3+ years' experience, valid CDL, own tools, and the ability to lift heavy loads. You will work both on the road and in-yard, with liability for inventory management and parts

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience repairing Commercial Class 8 Trailers.
  • Experience performing annual federal inspections and brake inspections.
  • Valid Driver’s License with acceptable driving record and no suspensions.
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds.
  • Comfortable using computers for billing and work orders.
  • Follows verbal and written work orders to stay on track with daily repairs.
  • Confident explaining a diagnosis over the phone and advising customer on repairs.
  • Self-motivated with strong organization and planning skills.
  • Ability to do structural body work is a must.
  • Experience with stick welding.
  • Have your own tools.
  • Certifications are a plus: EPA 608/609/Universal & ASE.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, inspect, and repair Class 8 trailers.Perform trailer patchwork and minor structural repairs.
  • Carry out preventive maintenance and DOT inspections; service tires, hubs, axles, and other parts.
  • Write work orders and open/close repair orders on a company device for mobile road calls and in-yard work.
  • Test systems for performance and ensure DOT safety compliance.
  • Manage service truck inventory and source parts from local vendors.
  • Complete inspection reports and DOT documentation accurately and on time.
  • Deliver strong customer service and report findings to management.

  • • Perform trailer patchwork and minor structural repairs as needed
