Job summary

Jobtailor in Mobile, AL is seeking a skilled diesel and trailer technician to perform a wide range of repairs and inspections on Class 6-8 trucks and trailers. You will lead and train other technicians, schedule maintenance, and manage DOT inspections to ensure compliance.

Responsibilities include repairing components, managing repair orders, sourcing parts, and maintaining accurate documentation. Strong communication, organization, and CDL are highly valued.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of diesel and trailer repair experience.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Ability to work extended hours including weekends and holidays.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to use a computer/tablet for work orders and labor tracking.
  • 2 years of experience in annual federal inspections and brake inspections.

Responsibilities

  • Perform repairs and inspections on Class 6-8 trucks and trailers (brakes, diagnostics, A/C, electrical, engine, exhaust, after-treatment, lift-gates, tires).
  • Assist with leading and training other technicians.
  • Schedule and oversee maintenance procedures and DOT inspections.
  • Repair or replace vehicle and trailer components as needed.
  • Open/close repair orders on company devices.
  • Obtain parts from local vendors and manage inventory on the service truck.
  • Accurately complete DOT forms and other documentation.

Job description

  • Perform repairs and inspections on a variety of Class 6-8 trucks and trailers, including brakes, diagnostics, A/C systems, electrical systems, engine components, exhaust systems, after-treatment systems, lift-gates, and tires
  • Assist with leading and training other technicians
  • Schedule and oversee all maintenance procedures, including preventive maintenance and DOT inspections
  • Repair or replace vehicle and trailer components
  • Open and close repair orders on a company-issued device
  • Obtain parts from local vendors and manage inventory on the service truck
  • Accurately complete DOT forms and other documentation in a timely fashion
Requirements
  • Minimum of 3 years of diesel and trailer repair experience preferred.
  • Communication skills
  • Ability to work extended and/or irregular hours including weekends and holidays when needed
  • Valid Driver's License required.
  • Self-motivated with excellent organization and planning skills
  • Ability to utilize a computer/tablet for electronic processing of work orders which includes adding labor hours, and updating work order statuses
  • 2 years of experience in performing annual federal inspections and brake inspections.
  • 2 years of experience in truck/ trailer maintenance and repair or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Must possess proper tools
  • High School education or equivalent
  • Certifications are a plus
  • Welding experience
  • CDL, a plus
  • Ability to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation
  • Work outdoors and under extreme weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and humidity
