Job summary

Minerals Technologies Inc. in Lucerne Valley, CA, is seeking an MES Technician to maintain and repair mobile mining equipment, perform scheduled maintenance, and document activities.

You will troubleshoot diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems while coordinating with vendors and leading junior technicians. The role requires 5+ years of industrial mobile equipment experience, strong mechanical/electrical skills, and a safety-focused mindset.

Qualifications

• Proficient in English and advanced mechanical/electrical skills.
• Preferred: computer literacy and formal diesel mechanic or automotive mechanic training.
• Physical capabilities: lifting (up to 50 lbs., occasionally up to 100 lbs.), operating equipment, manual dexterity, and working in confined spaces.
• Strong troubleshooting, judgment, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and in teams.
• Capable of instructing others and multitasking.
• Must be adaptable, dependable, and maintain composure under pressure.
• Required to follow safety and company procedures and complete necessary training.
• Troubleshooting diesel and gas engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and drivetrains.
• Electrical systems installation and troubleshooting.
• Welding, fabrication, flame cutting.
• Lubrication methods and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
• Reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Repair and maintain mobile mining equipment to a safe, usable condition.
• Troubleshoot and repair mobile mining equipment.
• Plan and perform planned maintenance and repairs to mobile mining equipment.
• Document maintenance activities performed.
• Position includes progression from Technician 1 to Technician 4 based on skill development.
• Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance on mobile equipment.
• Perform welding, electrical troubleshooting, and repairs.
• Coordinate with external vendors for repairs and emergency part deliveries.
• Act as fill-in team leader when management is unavailable.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and modify all types of mobile equipment.
• Handle computer tasks: time cards, parts issuance, vendor emails.
• Train and lead junior technicians.
• Use service and parts manuals for repairs.
• Perform hydraulic troubleshooting and repairs.
• Refuel trucks and loaders.
• Manage and store special order parts or stage parts for larger projects.
• Perform other assigned duties as assigned.
