Job summary

Rush Truck Centers is seeking an Experienced Mobile Diesel Technician to support our customers. Our Mobile Diesel Technicians maintain fleets and handle service calls at client locations to deliver on-site expertise for trucks and equipment.

Responsibilities include maintain equipment per standards, diagnose and repair diesel systems, manage service-truck inventory, read job orders, operate diagnostic tools, document work, and stay available for after-hours calls.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 5 years' experience as a Class 7 & 8 technician in a dealership or related truck service facility
• Current CDL preferred but not required.
• Medical card as required by the FMVSS.
• Mechanical aptitude and technical ability is a must.
• Peterbilt, International, Ford, Hino, Isuzu, Cummins, & ASE certifications are preferred & rewarded

Responsibilities

• Maintain all aspects of equipment according to company standards.
• Handle basic maintenance of the truck including fueling, oil checks, cleanliness, and required inspections.
• Manage inventory control on the service truck and for keeping the vehicle properly stocked.
• Report to the Service Manager and be assigned duties daily.
• Maintain availability for after-hours service calls and open work schedule.
• Maintain and inventory the supplied tools for the work required in maintaining diesel engine trucks and equipment.
• Read job orders and observe vehicle operation to plan procedures.
• Utilize diagnostic equipment to determine malfunction and perform repairs.
• Diagnose, remove, and replace components such as injectors, pistons, bearings, transmissions, etc.
• Document and submit necessary paperwork in the mobile service program.
• Respond to customer inquiries and foster positive relations.
• Advise customers on repairs to be performed within the next 3 months.
• Participate in training and apply it on the job.
