Job summary

Cox Automotive is hiring a Mobile Diesel Technician Level II (DOT) to perform licensed DOT inspections, preventive maintenance, light-to-mid repairs and diagnostics in a mobile/field setting. The role involves independent scheduling, parts sourcing, and client communication to ensure fleet readiness and reliability.

The position offers day shifts, remote work option with residency in the specified city/region, and compensation based on an hourly base rate with potential incentives.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM), DOT inspections and follow-up repairs on light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
• Perform minor adjustments and repairs on electrical, braking, cooling and related systems; diagnose and repair engine electronics, transmissions, clutches and differentials.
• Inspect, test and listen to equipment to diagnose malfunctions using handheld tools, gauges and diagnostic devices.
• Road-test vehicles to verify repairs and ensure proper operation.
• Manage parts inventory and maintain company-issued service vehicle; conduct safety and pre-/post-trip inspections.
• Document all work, upload RO photos, parts used and findings via TRAIT on the iOS device; complete DOT forms timely.
