Job summary

Murphy-Hoffman Company in Clinton, NC is looking for a Mobile Diesel Service Technician / Mechanic. This position performs heavy-duty mechanical truck repair and maintenance offsite, develops relationships with customers, and works towards labor sales quotas.

The ideal candidate has at least three years of heavy-duty truck repair experience, A/C and Brake certifications, and is self-motivated. The role offers competitive pay and numerous benefits including medical insurance and a 401k program.

Qualifications

• Minimum three years’ heavy-duty truck repair experience.
• A/C, Brake and DOT Annual Inspector certifications required. Engine and Component certifications are a plus.
• Must be self-motivated and capable of working with little supervision.
• Must have a commitment to customer satisfaction and perform quality repairs.
• Must have excellent communication skills. Must have a positive can-do attitude.
• Necessary tools to perform position responsibilities.
• Class A or B CDL and/or DOT medical card may be required depending on the size of the mobile service vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine mechanical repairs and maintenance on heavy-duty truck equipment and related components with general supervision.
• Coordinates customer repair orders with Service Manager and Shop Foremen for task assignment.
• Advises customer of needed service work, as well as suggests additional sales whenever possible.
• Follows safe work practices, ensures proper care of company vehicles.
• Maintains favorable relations with customers.
• Creates and closes repair orders in the MHC business system.
• Controls business expenses within the approved budget.
• Oversees operations of assigned customers in territory and achieves labor sales objectives.
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
