Job summary

SRM Concrete (Smyrna Ready Mix) is seeking a Field Service Technician to travel to job sites and plant locations, performing maintenance, inspections, and emergency repairs on diesel-powered trucks and equipment.

You will diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues, rebuild major components on-site, document work thoroughly, and communicate with dispatch to minimize downtime—CDL preferred and willingness to travel daily. Safety is a priority.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational or technical certification in diesel engine repair is a plus.
• Experience as a Field Service Technician, Diesel Mechanic, or similar role in concrete, construction, or heavy equipment industries is preferred.
• Proficiency with diagnostic tools and ability to work independently in diverse environments.

Responsibilities

• Travel to job sites and plant locations to perform routine maintenance, inspections, and emergency repairs on diesel-powered vehicles and equipment.
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in the field using diagnostic tools and technical expertise.
• Rebuild, replace, or repair major components of diesel engines on-site as needed.
• Communicate effectively with dispatch, operations, and plant teams to coordinate service calls and minimize downtime.
• Maintain a well-organized service vehicle stocked with necessary tools, parts, and safety equipment.
• Ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures while working independently at remote locations.
• Accurately document all maintenance and repair work performed in the field.
• Stay current on the latest diesel engine technology, repair techniques, and industry best practices.
