Job summary

Sycamores partners with the 988 mental health crisis line to deliver Mobile Crisis Outreach Team support for individuals in crisis. The Peer Support Specialist assists with crisis stabilization, safety planning, and connecting callers to community resources, working alongside MCOT clinicians and other responders.

The role leverages lived experience to support adults, youth, children, and families, emphasizing recovery, self-determination, and consumer advocacy in treatment planning and follow-up

Qualifications

• Be at least 18 years of age.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent degree.
• Be self-identified as having experience with recovery from a mental illness or substance use disorder.
• Be willing to share lived experience.
• Have a strong dedication to recovery.
• Agree in writing to adhere to the Code of Ethics.
• Certification in Peer Support is preferred but not required.
• Maintains all required licenses and certifications.
• Driving is an essential function; valid CA driver's license, acceptable driving record, and proof of auto insurance are required.

Responsibilities

• Respond with MCOT clinician to provide crisis support and stabilization in the field.
• Advocate for client voice, choice, self-determination, and informed decision-making.
• Provide consultation to consumers regarding community resources and services.
• Evaluate safety and coordinate with hospitals, ambulance services, and law enforcement as needed.
• Co‑respond with MCOT vehicles to enhance safety and support in crisis situations.
