Job summary

MGX Equipment Services' Salt Lake City branch is seeking a skilled Shop Crane Technician to inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain mobile cranes and boom trucks. This role reports to the Branch Manager and offers a $4,500 sign-on bonus and up to $1,500 per year for tool reimbursement.

Responsibilities include inspections, diagnostics, reading manuals and drawings, and ensuring OEM specs and safety standards are met. Some overtime may be required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Mechanic/Technician.
• Experience with Grove RT and TMS Cranes; Grove GMK European Cranes; Manitowoc EPIC and/or traditional cranes a strong plus.
• Must promote safety compliance and professional demeanor; punctual and well‑organized.
• Must be able to purchase full set of hand tools up to 1.5 inches.
• Valid driver’s license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operates and inspects cranes to diagnose defects.
• Demonstrates working knowledge of CANBUS, PAT, EKS, ECOS & MEGA-TRACK systems.
• Examines parts for damage or wear using micrometers and gauges.
• Reads manuals, parts manuals, blueprints and technical drawings.
• Tests mechanical, electronic, hydraulic systems after repair to ensure OEM compliance.
• Maintains safety and completes reports and timesheets.
• Maintains clean and orderly work areas and communicates with customers.
