Gray Media’s WMTV-TV in Madison is hiring a weekend MMJ to join our award-winning newsroom. You’ll own the story from field to air, shooting, writing, editing, and presenting packages, and delivering live reports.

This TV-first role emphasizes digital content for social and web alongside on-air reporting. You should be a strong storyteller with solid editorial judgment, able to manage competing deadlines, and comfortable working weekends, including Saturdays and Sundays, with some overtime for

Job Summary/Description:Love to own the story when the whole town is watching? WMTV 15 News is hiring a weekend MMJ to join our award winning newsroom. Are you a visual storyteller who lives for the rush of a breaking story? Do you have the weekend warrior spirit, the kind of person who thrives when news doesn't stop just because it's Saturday? We're looking for a Multi-Media Journalist to join WMTV 15 News Team in Madison. This is a TV-first position, but digital can't be an afterthought. If you're ready to lead weekends and own stories from the Capitol to southern Wisconsin, we want to talk to you.

• Own the story: Shoot, write, edit, and present original news packages and live reports
• Think multi-platform: Gather content with what works on social and digital in mind, not just on air
• File in real time: Deliver daily social content including vertical videos from the field
• Build your beat: Develop and maintain sources across the Madison market and southern Wisconsin
• Spark ideas: Contribute story ideas daily that serve our broadcast AND digital audiences

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Strong editorial judgment, especially in breaking news situations
• Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines simultaneously
• A digital-aware mindset: you think about your audience on every platform, not just the one watching at 6pm
• Excellent writing skills: tight, active, conversational broadcast copy
• Self-motivated and dependable; weekends require someone who leads without being managed
• Desire to win, positive attitude, and ability to reflect and apply feedback
• Flexibility to work 5 days/week including Saturday and Sunday, a combination of dayside and nightside shifts, plus overtime for breaking news or special coverage
• Valid driver's license and ability to drive a company vehicle
• Journalism-related degree preferred, but not required. Experience and demonstrated skill matter most.
• Must be able to carry 35+ pounds of gear, and be experienced in shooting and editing unique content. We do have photographers to partner with on appropriate assignments
