Job summary

Jefferson Health in Philadelphia is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician/Scientist (MLT/MLS) to perform and monitor extensive lab analyses, ensuring accurate results and compliance with regulatory standards. The role emphasizes teamwork within the department and across units to deliver quality patient care.

You will operate analytical equipment, maintain LIS workflows, participate in QC and proficiency testing, and fulfill annual competency requirements.

Qualifications

• MLT: Associate’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or military lab training.
• MLS: Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science or equivalent.
• Less than 1 year prior lab experience or student training accepted.

Responsibilities

• Process specimens following established protocols with proper patient ID and labeling.
• Assess specimen acceptability and communicate requirements to staff.
• Enter and verify results in the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
• Operate, calibrate, and maintain analytical equipment and document checks.
• Adhere to QC policies, document results, and participate in proficiency testing.
• Maintain regulatory compliance and annual competency requirements.
• Provide training to technicians and students when requested.
• Perform phlebotomy and venipuncture at hospital locations as needed.
• Interact professionally with coworkers, patients, and staff.
