Job summary

Jefferson Health is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician/Scientist (MLT/MLS) to perform and monitor laboratory analyses, ensuring accurate results for clinical diagnoses and treatments.

The role requires understanding of QA/QC processes, specimen handling, and operation of laboratory instruments. This position involves collaboration with the department and other hospital teams to deliver high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in a related field of science required for MLT.
• Bachelor’s degree in related field of science required for MLS.
• Experience with regulatory compliance and quality control preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process specimens following established protocols for proper patient identification and labelling.
• Perform specimen collection via phlebotomy/venipuncture when required at hospital locations.
• Operate analytical equipment for laboratory tests and maintain devices per manufacturer specs.
• Document test results and quality control data in the LIS and hospital records.
• Troubleshoot instrument malfunctions and initiate corrective actions.
• Participate in proficiency testing and ongoing competency requirements.
