Applied Industrial Technologies in Norwood, MA is seeking an entry-level Automation Specialist/Controls Engineer to support Mitsubishi Electric automation projects. The role blends product selection, application support, and training with hands-on design, programming, and testing of Mitsubishi PLCs and GOT HMIs.

You will work with a team guided by senior engineers, contributing to project FAT, startup, and commissioning, while developing your skills across Mitsubishi platforms and AutoCAD

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in electrical, controls, automation, mechatronics, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience)
• 0-2 years of experience in industrial automation, controls, or a related field; internships, co-ops, and academic projects count
• Basic understanding of PLC programming concepts (ladder logic)
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management
• Clear communication skills with customers and colleagues in person, by phone, email, and video call
• Willingness to learn and take direction

Responsabilidades

• Mitsubishi Automation Specialist (approx. 60%): support sales and customers with Mitsubishi Electric PLC, HMI, drive, servo, and motion product selection and application questions
• Assist with quotations for control panels, cable assemblies, turnkey systems, and programming services
• Provide first-line technical support to colleagues and customers, escalating complex issues to senior engineers
• Help prepare product demonstrations, customer education sessions, and training materials
• Stay current on Mitsubishi Electric products, software releases, and training resources
• Contribute to internal documentation, standards, and best practices for Mitsubishi platforms
• Controls Engineer (approx. 40%): program, configure, test, and debug Mitsubishi Electric PLCs and GOT HMIs, with exposure to VFDs, servo systems, and motion control
• Develop and maintain electrical schematics, BOMs, panel layouts, and engineering change documentation using AutoCAD Electrical
• Assist with component selection and industrial control panel design under the direction of senior engineers
• Support project execution, including factory acceptance testing (FAT), startup, and commissioning
• Provide regular project status updates to management, sales, and customers as assigned
