Job summary

DLR Group in Houston seeks a Mission Critical Mechanical Design Leader to guide the design of mechanical systems for mission-critical buildings. You will lead a mechanical engineering team to produce construction documents using Revit and manage project schedules to meet deliverables, collaborating with other disciplines in an integrated design approach.

The successful candidate will have a Mechanical Engineering degree, PE license, 15+ years of experience including data centers, and proven

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Licensed Mechanical Engineer.
• 15+ years of mechanical engineering experience including HVAC, central utility plants, plumbing and fire suppression.
• 5+ years of data center design experience.
• Experience leading engineering teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with BIM (Autodesk Revit MEP) workflow.

Responsibilities

• Manage operations, execution, and expectations for the Mechanical Engineering Discipline tied to Mission Critical.
• Plan and manage mechanical engineering projects to meet profitability goals.
• Assign duties and projects to personnel to balance staffing and workload for profit.
• Schedule, facilitate and document meetings with staff and clients.
• Partner with sector and practice leadership for recruitment, training, and evaluation of personnel.
• Support business development through RFP processes, project interviews, and industry engagement to build the DLR Group brand.
• Maintain leading workplace practices to drive operating unit and culture to a great place to work.
• Develop mechanical designs from concept through construction, including calculations, reports, and coordinated requirements.
• Perform quality control of mechanical plans and specifications.
• Direct or coordinate activities of personnel, vendors, and consultants.
