Job summary

Stantec in Chicago, IL is seeking an Information and Communications Technology Designer to perform basic ICT design duties under supervision. The role focuses on translating client requirements into backbone and horizontal cabling designs and coordinating production with the workgroup.

Responsibilities include site visits, preparing deliverables in CAD, Bluebeam, and Revit, and assisting project managers to meet timelines and budgets.

Qualifications

• Accredited engineering degree or equivalent experience required.
• Minimum 5 years related industry experience preferred.
• Experience with ICT design within Mission Critical Facilities is preferred.
• Knowledge of TIA standards and BICSI best practices.

Responsibilities

• Develops systems designs within own discipline with minimal supervision.
• Performs site visits for surveys, progress inspections, and final punch lists as required by project timelines.
• Prepares project deliverables per the client’s intent and scope of work in Stantec’s proposal.
• Follows Stantec’s quality management process; reviews project deliverables before submitting to QA/QC reviewer.
• Actively participates in the engineering/professional community to build personal knowledge and professional growth.
• Meets or exceeds utilization goals and adheres to project budget.
• Performs duties to assist or act as the project manager as follows: input plans, identify precursors, and manage tasks within timeline and budget.
• Creates detailed instructions, delegates tasks, and reviews returned work to ensure timely execution.
• Identifies and reports potential roadblocks and competing priorities that may affect scope, schedule, and budget.
• Develops understanding of Stantec’s accounting and project management systems.
