Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Software Support Engineer to join the Defense Sensor team in Huntsville, AL. You will lead root cause analysis, collect and interpret data from diverse sources, and collaborate with software product management, developers, and test engineers to drive effective corrective actions.

The role requires strong analytical skills, experience with C++, Java, or Python, and an active secret clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of relevant experience or Master’s with 3 years of relevant experience.
• Proven experience and in-depth knowledge of C++, Java or Python.
• Basic skills with version control tools such as Git.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to interpret complex data, diagnose configuration errors, and identify causal relationships.
• Excellent hardware and/or software diagnostic skills with ability to read and analyze system logs, trace files or error messages to find root causes.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Active secret clearance.
• Full time onsite support.
• Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area.

Responsibilities

• Lead and facilitate root cause analysis investigations for complex technical issues, product failures, process deviations, and quality incidents.
• Collect and analyze relevant data from various sources, including product data, test results, customer feedback, and system logs.
• Conduct detailed failure analysis investigations on complex software product observations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather information and develop comprehensive solutions.
• Document findings and present conclusions and recommended corrective and preventive actions to stakeholders and management.
• Develop and implement effective solutions to prevent product defects or process issues from recurring.
• Identify systemic issues and opportunities for improvement across processes and SW products based on recurring root causes.
