Job summary

Rand Mutual Assurance seeks a strategic leader to develop and drive the prevention strategy for the Mining sector. You will translate strategy into a sector-specific execution plan and influence client behaviour, safety culture, and operational practices across mining portfolios.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Health & Safety Management or allied field required.
• Postgraduate qualification advantageous for advanced responsibilities.
• Professional registration (e.g., SAIOSH, SAIOH, IOSH) preferred but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Translate and implement the overarching prevention strategy into a Mining-specific execution roadmap.
• Provide sector insights to inform strategy refinement with the Head of Prevention.
• Identify emerging risks and proactively adjust interventions.
• Act as a trusted advisor to mining clients including executives and leaders.
• Influence safety culture, leadership behaviours, and oper­ational practices.
• Represent Rand Mutual Assurance in mining forums and regulatory engagements.
• Drive behavioural and operational change through influence and collaboration.
• Oversee implementation of prevention programmes across the Mining portfolio.
• Ensure alignment with claims, underwriting, and client management teams.
• Develop and monitor reports and ensure scalable interventions.
• Leverage risk data to identify high-risk mines and trends.
• Deliver insight-driven reporting to leadership and clients.
