Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a vigilant Health and Safety Officer for mining operations in Paarl, Western Cape. You will implement and monitor health and safety policies, conduct risk assessments, and promote a strong safety culture across all site activities.

Collaborate with management to identify hazards, enforce regulations, investigate incidents, and provide training. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to operational safety and regulatory compliance in a dynamic mining environment.

Qualifications

• National Diploma in Safety Management or related field.
• SAMTRAC certification or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years' experience in mining safety.
• Strong knowledge of South African Mine Health and Safety Act.
• Strong risk assessment and hazard identification skills.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and reporting abilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement and maintain the site's OHSMS.
• Conduct regular site inspections and safety audits.
• Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses; determine root causes.
• Provide health and safety training and toolbox talks.
• Ensure employees follow safety procedures and regulations.
• Maintain accurate health and safety records and reports.
