Job summary

Komatsu Mining Corp. in Elko, NV is seeking a Field Service Technician to maintain, inspect, and repair a wide range of mining equipment at customer sites.

You will diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues, perform parts replacement, and test equipment to ensure safety and uptime. The role requires at least two years in a related technical service field, an accredited apprenticeship or equivalent training, and the ability to travel to remote sites.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years in a related technical service role, with mining or heavy industrial equipment preferred.
• Accredited apprenticeship or equivalent to at least one year of technical college in mechanical/electrical/hydraulic systems.
• Knowledge of motor control systems; ability to read schematics for troubleshooting.
• Strong mechanical aptitude; experience aligning couplings, transfer cases, and gearboxes.
• Ability to work independently and in a team with good communication skills.
• Commitment to safety protocols and maintaining a safe work environment.
• Willingness to travel and work at varied surface mining sites.

Responsibilities

• Perform thorough maintenance, repair, servicing, and inspection on mining equipment.
• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues and identify root causes.
• Adjust, repair, or replace defective parts at customer sites, ensuring safety.
• Conduct rigorous testing of repaired equipment before returning to operation.
• Collaborate with field service teams to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
• Utilize knowledge of motor controls and schematics to troubleshoot issues.
• Demonstrate proficiency in aligning motors, transfer cases, and gearboxes.
• Maintain detailed records of maintenance and repairs for continuous improvement.
