Job summary

Komatsu invites applications for a Field Service Technician based at our Elko, NV facility. You will perform maintenance, inspection, and repair on mining equipment, focusing on mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems to maximize uptime.

Prospective candidates will be hands-on, safety‑minded, and capable of independent work while collaborating with field teams and customers to provide timely service and effective solutions in demanding environments.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years in a related technical service role with mining/heavy industrial exposure.
• Completion of an accredited apprenticeship or equivalent technical college education in relevant systems.
• Knowledge of motor control, schematics, and installation processes.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with alignment experience of motors and gearboxes.
• Ability to work independently and in teams with clear communication.
• Strict adherence to safety protocols on all job sites.
• Willingness to travel and operate in varied surface mining environments.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, repair, servicing, and inspection on mining equipment for safety and uptime.
• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues; identify root causes and implement fixes.
• Repair or replace defective parts at customer sites while maintaining high workmanship standards.
• Test repaired equipment to verify performance before returning to operation.
• Collaborate with field service teams to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
• Utilize motor controls, circuit installations, and schematics to troubleshoot efficiently.
• Demonstrate proficiency in mechanical alignments of couplings, transfer cases, and gearboxes.
• Maintain detailed records of maintenance and repairs for continuous improvement.
