Job summary

Komatsu is seeking a Field Service Technician based at our Elko, NV facility to perform maintenance, inspection, and repair on mining equipment, ensuring safety and reliability in challenging environments. The role requires strong problem-solving skills, teamwork, and commitment to safety while supporting customer operations.

You will diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues, replace worn parts, and test equipment at customer sites.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years in a related technical service role.
• Completion of an accredited apprenticeship or equivalent of at least one year of technical college focused on mechanical/electrical/hydraulic systems.
• Ability to read and apply motor control schematics and diagrams.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with experience aligning couplings, transfer cases, gearboxes.
• Excellent communication and ability to work independently or in a team.
• Commitment to safety and willingness to travel to various on-site locations.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, repair, servicing, and inspection on mining equipment to ensure safety and optimal function.
• Diagnose issues in mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems; identify root causes and implement solutions.
• Adjust/repair/replace defective parts at customer sites with high workmanship standards and safety compliance.
• Conduct rigorous testing of repaired equipment before returning to operation.
• Collaborate with field service teams to prioritize tasks and meet timelines.
• Utilize knowledge of motor controls and schematics to troubleshoot complex issues.
• Demonstrate proficiency in mechanical alignments of couplings, transfer cases, and gearboxes.
• Maintain detailed records of maintenance and repairs for continuous improvement.
