Job summary

MacKay is seeking a Civil Project Manager for our Mining team. This full-time seller-doer role involves 20% travel and a hybrid base out of Albuquerque or Phoenix.

You will lead civil/geotechnical components of mining infrastructure, ensuring safety, regulatory compliance, and design excellence. The position calls for 10+ years in mining-related civil/geotechnical engineering, a NM or AZ PE license (or ability to obtain within a year), and strong client relationship skills to win and deliver

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in NM or AZ, or ability to obtain within one year.
• 10+ years in civil/geotechnical engineering, mining sector.
• Experience with earthworks, foundations, mine waste, tailings, heap leach pads, water management.
• Strong PM, leadership and client relationship skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency in civil engineering design software and methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Act as lead engineer for civil/geotechnical mining infrastructure projects with accountability for quality, safety and compliance.
• Plan, provide design guidance and manage active and closure mining projects.
• Prepare and manage scope, budget, schedule and deliverables.
• Participate in detailed design and permitting processes.
• Prepare and review engineering calculations, models and methods.
• Communicate with clients to win future work and ensure project success.
• Supervise technical staff to deliver projects.
• Direct field activities including investigation, monitoring and testing on site.
• Write and review technical reports.
• Assist with business development to cultivate client relationships.
