Job summary

WSP is seeking a Mining Construction Coordinator (Civil/Concrete) to oversee onsite civil and concrete construction for a major mining EPCM project within our Earth & Environment team. This full-time role supports open pit mining with a focus on safety, schedule, and cost control.

You will lead coordination with engineers, procurement and field teams, ensuring constructability and compliance while managing vendors and site activities across potentially remote locations in the United States.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management, or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years in large-scale heavy civil construction/mining infrastructure.
• Hands-on construction management in active mining settings.
• MSHA 48B Surface and OSHA 30 preferred.
• Ability to coordinate multiple vendors and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead construction oversight and coordination for mine development of civil, earthworks and concrete elements.
• Manage construction contractors and field teams focusing on safety, cost, schedule, and quality.
• Interface between contractors, engineering, procurement and project controls for clear communication and risk mitigation.
• Coordinate with design engineers, geotechnical teams and stakeholders on constructability and field modifications.
• Drive safety culture and ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental requirements on site.
• Oversee QA/QC, inspections, and material testing to meet specs and safety standards.
• Support procurement and field implementation of key materials and systems.
• Develop and manage execution plans, schedules, risk registers, and cost tracking.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management

5+ years of relevant experience in large-scale heavy civil construction/mining infrastructure

Hands-on construction management in active mining settings

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple vendors

Strong verbal/written communication and problem solving
