Job summary

Salado Isolation Mining Contractors, LLC (SIMCO), the managing and operating contractor for the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP), seeks a Mine Engineer in Carlsbad, NM to lead underground mining engineering activities, including design, development, and planning.

You will collaborate with survey technicians, prepare precise drawings, and work to maximize cost-efficiency while integrating new technologies; DOE badge access and U.S. work authorization are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required with nine (9) years of mining, geotechnical or civil engineering experience.
• Must be 18 years of age.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without SIMCO visa sponsorship now or in the future.
• Non-U.S. citizens from certain countries may face additional security requirements to access the site.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support core underground mining engineering activities: design, development, and planning.
• Collaborate with survey technicians to conduct field surveys, process data, and generate precise drawings.
• Train and qualify as a Cognizant Engineer across designated systems and drive mining activity execution.
• Evaluate methods to maximize cost-efficiency and explore modern technological advancements, aligning with project objectives.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Mine Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or Civil Engineering
