Job summary

Salado Isolation Mining Contractors, LLC (SIMCO) seeks an Underground Electrician for our Carlsbad, NM operations. The role covers maintenance of electrical equipment and power distribution systems up to 13,800 volts, with work at the WIPP site in a surface and underground mining environment.

The position is USW bargaining unit, with SIMCO USW membership prioritized per the CBA. Candidates must meet safety, training, and security requirements, and be able to obtain a DOE badge for site access.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent is required.
• Five years of relevant electrical maintenance experience or five years of industrial electrical training/education.
• Must be 18 years of age.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without SIMCO visa sponsorship now or in the future.
• Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the WIPP Site.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical equipment, mobile equipment, and power distribution systems up to 13,800 volts.
• Follow written work instructions and safety policies.
• Maintain qualifications/training for job scope.
• Support surface and/or underground mining electrical activities at WIPP.
