Job summary

Serco Inc. seeks a Technical Writer in the Newport, Rhode Island area to develop, revise, and maintain technical documentation for a U.S. Navy MILSATCOM program.

You will collaborate with engineers, logisticians, SMEs, and Government personnel to produce clear, accurate manuals and training content. The role requires strong writing and editing skills, attention to detail, and the ability to document complex technical information for diverse audiences.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with relevant experience.
• Experience developing, writing, editing, or maintaining docs.
• Active Secret Security Clearance is required.
• Strong writing and editing skills demonstrated.
• Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
• Experience with Adobe Acrobat Pro and SharePoint.
• Ability to interpret technical information for audiences.
• Attention to detail and consistency across docs.

Responsibilities

• Develop, revise, edit, and format technical manuals, procedures, reports, guides, and other program documentation.
• Work with engineers, logisticians, and SMEs to translate technical information into written products.
• Support the development and maintenance of OJT materials, work instructions, and training products.
• Review existing documentation and update content for changes and maintenance requirements.
• Ensure documents follow government, program, and formatting standards.
• Prepare and deliver Government data deliverables (CDRL) and related docs.
• Edit content for grammar, clarity, and completeness.
• Create templates, formatting standards, tables, graphics, and supporting content.
• Coordinate document reviews and incorporate comments from Government personnel and reviewers.
• Manage document versions and configuration controls.
• Maintain files on Government drives, SharePoint, and approved repositories.
• Assist with inventories, data calls, and technical reviews.
