Job summary

Serco is seeking a SATCOM Lab Engineering Technician for the SESIF at NUWC in Newport/Middletown, RI. You will support MILSATCOM hardware/software, perform maintenance, and document issues through NESD Helix tickets. Travel up to 10% and close collaboration with the customer and Serco team is required.

The role requires an active Secret clearance, U.S. citizenship, and a strong background in SATCOM equipment with hands-on lab experience.

Qualifications

• Active Secret clearance and U.S. citizenship required.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Approximately 10 years of related SATCOM experience.
• Technical knowledge of SATCOM and SESIF equipment (NMT, ATIP).
• Ability to troubleshoot, set up test equipment, and manage configuration records.
• Good written and verbal communication skills and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Provide distance technical assistance via hotline, naval messages, or email and document in NESD Helix.
• Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain lab and facility equipment; file NESD Helix reports.
• Perform COMSEC and keymat handling per NUWCDIVNPT policies and report completion.
• Generate NMT images per satellite authorizations and service plans; log documentation.
• Configure lab hardware/software and maintain device records; prepare baseline records.
• Submit satellite access requests and post-mission after action reports using JIST.
• Download monthly updates and manage data imports/exports with proper documentation.
• Attend weekly on-site or remote IPT meetings and summarize findings and actions.
• Conduct DRE data analysis to troubleshoot and prepare technical reports with recommendations.
