Job summary

KBR seeks a Network Architect and Solutions Engineer to lead MILSATCOM backhaul and transport design in a government-focused environment at on-site locations in California. You will champion requirements development, technical risk assessment, and interoperability across space, ground, and terrestrial segments.

You will collaborate with government customers and prime contractors, advance CONOPS, and guide architectural decisions while ensuring compliance with DoD standards and security

Qualifications

• Active Secret security clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mathematics, physics, computer science, or equivalent.
• 10+ years of experience supporting military communications or network systems acquisition/operations.
• 5+ years in development, research, or advanced engineering environments for government programs.
• 5+ years interfacing with senior stakeholders and contributing to requirements development and technical decision-making.
• Experience in SETA/SEIT/FFRDC or government advisory roles for space and/or networked systems.
• Expertise in developing networking CONOPS and technical requirements for military/government systems.
• Strong understanding of MILSATCOM architectures including backhaul, ground systems, and enterprise network integration.
• Knowledge of DoD network environments (transport, routing, switching, and enterprise services).

Responsibilities

• Serve as a trusted technical advisor to government leadership for MILSATCOM backhaul and network transport solutions.
• Develop, review, and refine network requirements, CONOPS, and performance parameters for SATCOM-enabled services.
• Provide independent assessment of prime contractor network architectures ensuring alignment with standards and mission needs.
• Support government evaluation of system trades, risks, and architectural choices across space, ground, and terrestrial environments.
• Lead development of CONOPS and technical requirements for MILSATCOM backhaul and transport services.
• Analyze MILSATCOM backhaul architectures including space, ground/baseband processing, transport, and enterprise interfaces.
• Coordinate integration planning between prime SATCOM systems and DoD infrastructure (DISA services and service networks).
• Assess baseband network switching, routing, and transport mechanisms to connect SATCOM to DoD environments.
• Identify interoperability concerns and performance impacts across integrated systems.
• Integrate SATCOM solutions with DoD infrastructure including DISA transport services and service networks.
• Collaborate with prime contractors, government offices, DISA, and users to align designs with mission and security constraints.
• Define and review interface requirements, diagrams, and documentation ensuring interoperability and standards compliance.
• Analyze network performance parameters (bandwidth, latency, availability, redundancy, resiliency).
• Provide input to acquisition activities (RFP support, design reviews, test planning).
• Evaluate and recommend networking technologies, protocols, and architectures for performance and security improvements.
• Participate in TIMs with stakeholders to resolve integration challenges.
• Support system verification, validation, and acceptance activities for SATCOM and network transport.
• Mentor and share MILSATCOM networking best practices.
